about the project
The construction art-fence of the Almaty Museum of Arts is more than just a temporary barrier — it is a bold artistic statement capable of transforming the perception of the urban landscape. It has turned the perimeter of a construction site into a dynamic open-air museum, erasing the boundaries between building and art, between the city and culture. The composition is based on principles of modularity and geometric rhythm. Bold black frames create a clear structural grid that brings order to the chaotic urban fabric, while white panels serve as a neutral canvas for visual expression. This approach turns the fence architecture into a form of urban typography, where each segment becomes a distinct art exhibit. The curatorial concept of the fence bridges heritage and modernity. It features works by iconic 20th-century artists such as Fernand Léger, Zhanatay Shardenov, and Yevgeny Sidorkin. In this way, the exhibition becomes a manifesto of living art — one that engages directly with pedestrians, drivers, and passersby alike. This project has become a symbol of a new architectural ethos in Almaty — one in which even temporary structures take part in the city’s visual and cultural dialogue.
