about the project
The park on Gandhi Street in central Almaty embodies the idea of Zen within the urban fabric — a space seamlessly woven into its natural surroundings, offering visitors a meditative experience of unity with nature. The guiding principle of the project is fluidity. Curved pathways, soft forms of water features, and pavilion roofs that appear to float above the ground all contribute to a sense of flow and harmony. Architectural elements do not dominate the landscape — they dissolve into it, becoming part of the park’s ecosystem. The landscape design is rooted in naturalism: wild grasses, perennial plants, and clusters of trees create the atmosphere of a protected sanctuary. Tiered terraces with wooden decks and benches allow visitors to observe the life of the park from different elevations, discovering new vantage points and moments of quiet solitude. Footbridges over lush greenery, winding trails, and lily-covered ponds set a unique rhythm — this is a place not for rushing, but for immersing oneself in the moment. The Zen philosophy in this park is not conveyed through words, but through space. Every element encourages slowing down, contemplation, and inner stillness. This park is urban meditation, embodied in architecture and nature. Here, air, water, light, and shadow converge — inviting a dialogue with oneself and the world around. The project’s ultimate aim is not merely to create a park, but to shape a philosophical space where architecture becomes a pathway to harmony.
